360-degree Feedback
360-degree feedback, otherwise known as multi-source feedback, is a process in which employees receive feedback on their behavioural performance on a range of workplace competencies from people who work around them. This typically involves the distribution of surveys to people selected for having first-hand experience to the employee’s work approach, such as their manager, peers, and direct reports; customers/clients can also be included in the mix. The employee also completes a self-evaluation. This “all round” feedback provides a comprehensive view of an employee’s demonstrated capability on the job from different perspectives.

TALMAT Consulting has a series of ready-to-use 360-degree surveys. Alternatively we can work with you to develop a survey specifically tailored to assess the competencies unique to your organisation or for a specific role. Surveys can be distributed and completed online or on paper. Feedback can be provided one-on-one or in group feedback workshops. Our consultants will help your employees to create a ‘Self Development Action Plan’. Composite reports, analysis and recommendations can also be provided for teams, departments and organisation. After a period of time, it is recommended that the survey be re-administered to check progress, and revise the development action plan where necessary.
Benefits of 360-degree feedback:
- Collection of multiple ratings provides a more balanced, fair, reliable and valid perspective than traditional single source feedback i.e., from manager only;
- Individual bias is reduced as strong opinions from one person are balanced out by the majority;
- Feedback from one source can be easily dismissed as being one person’s opinion, whereas feedback from several people saying the same thing is harder to ignore;
- Provides an objective way of identifying strengths and development opportunities at the individual, team and organisation level;
- Provides an excellent catalyst or trigger for an individual to take action on development areas;
- Increases self-awareness and identifies gaps between self-perception and the perception of others; and
- Identifies training needs.
